ISKCON Temple in Prayagraj

International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami (SrilaPrabhupada) in 1966. The ISKCON temple at Allahabad was inaugurated in the year 1995. The temple is a small complex with a dharmashala for devotees and a small goshala. Sri Sri Radha Venimadhava deities were installed in the year 2003. Over the span of 12 years there has been a growth of the devotee community. Currently, it is undergoing an expansion operation. ISKCON Temple at Allahabad is located on the bank of the holy river Yamuna. The temple has a calm and serene atmosphere.

The temple is open to all. The best time to visit the temple is during the months of November to March. Devotees come to meditate and attend the soothing aarti ceremony. ISKCON promotes the well being of the society through the teachings of Lord Krishna. A committee looks after the administration of the temple.

Here visitors experience bliss from chanting “hare Krishna”, singing kirtans and reading Bhagvad Gita or Vedic scriptures.

Festival at ISKON Temple Allahabad

Janmashtami is celebrated at ISKCON Allahabad for three days. During Janmashtami, temple hall is decorated with flowers, devotees perform kirtans, and Krishna Prasadam is distributed. A rath yatra of Lord Krishna is also organized which passes through various roads of the city and ends at the temple.

During Kumbh Mela millions of devotees come to ISKCON Allahabad where regular festivals are held throughout day and night. Everyday devotees experience the splendor of morning and evening aarti, and chant the name of Lord Krishna. Spiritual discourses for young boys and girls are held in the temple on weekends.

The first darshan starts at 4:30 am

DarshanAarti takes place at 8:00 am

Rajbhogdarshan is from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm

Evening aarti takes place at 6:30 pm

Finally the last aarti takes place at 8:00 pm

Temple closes at 8:30 pm

The temple is open all days from 4:30 am – 8:00 pm. The temple is open throughout the year. The office hours of the temple is from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

The temple also has amenities like guest facilities, life membership, men’s ashram, Sunday feast, gift shop, book shop and home program services. ISKCON ashram has marble flooring, attached bathroom, central hot water systems, adequate ventilation, and has 72 rooms.
